Dr Peters qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2004. Since this time, she has worked in the NHS, for independent care providers and independently. Throughout her career, she has worked with individuals with complex presentations who were in need of psychological support.
Since October 2018, Dr Peters has worked exclusively in independent practice. She has given evidence in court under cross-examination on a number of occasions and has undetaken Bond Solon Expert Witness training.
Between December 2016 and October 2018, Dr Peters was Head of Psychology for a 56 bed Independent Women's Inpatient service and was part of the Senior Management Team responsible for setting up this brand new hospital. She oversaw the development of the psychology provision on site as well as developing staff training and support mechanisms. Dr Peters left the service in 2018 after the hospital had achieved a 'Good' CQC rating within 15 months of its opening.
Prior to this Dr Peters worked in the NHS in a range of settings within the community and inpatient services offering psychological assessment and treatment to both adults and children. She has worked with a broad range of presenting difficulties and has undertaken training and practiced using many therapeutic techniques including CBT, DBT, EMDR, REBT and CFT. She adapts her approach based in the needs of the individual and has a particular interest in Single Session Therapy.
